Cursing or swearing varies little from culture to culture. The degree of severity usually relates to which gods are held higher in specific cultural pantheons. Below the nations/areas of origen are noted, although after the skies were open to trade and peoples of all nations began trading, swearing became commonplace and different curses traveled to various regions.

Common / Light swears

  • Zin's Beard. Uplander: More of a jovial swear than anything else, it is typically used in frustration. Widely used, it is an envocation taken lightly. The origins are unknown.
  • Roto's Spear. Vidbel: The most popular Vidbeli way of cursing, it is an allusion to Roto's manly bits. Which, according to the Vidbeli, are very, very large.

Uncommon / Serious swears

  • Star's Eye/ Alethia's Eye. Downlander: Treated by Downlanders as being more serious, as invoking the eye of a Star indicates pure truth. Usually used in the context of something one believes strongly, generally something they strongly dislike.

Rare / Severe swears

  • On the Earthwalker's Name. Aperonian: The most serious of all oaths, when someone swears on The Earthwalker's name it is seen as unbreakable. Those who break oaths upon his name are said to aid him in recovering it, and thus aiding in the end of all things. Interestingly enough, both Downlander and Uplander culture make use of this oath frequently, as do the Vidbeli.
